Licensing & Trials

PRISM is commercial software. The binary enforces a signed licence file.

Getting a licence or a trial

Email sales@trident-cache.com. Trials are full-featured and time-limited — the expiry date is signed into the file itself; standard trials are issued for 14 days. You receive a license.lic file.

Installing the licence

Point license.path at the file and restart PRISM. The shipped /etc/prism/config.toml carries the line commented out — uncomment it:

[license]
path = "/etc/prism/license.lic"

For containers, mount the file at that path and use a config with license.path set:

docker run -v ./license.lic:/etc/prism/license.lic:ro ...

The startup log reports the licence state; a trial logs its remaining days at boot.

What happens without a valid licence

PRISM starts and proxies traffic, but does not render — crawlers receive your origin's raw JavaScript shell. The x-prism-license response header reports the state so the condition is visible from the outside.

Renewal

Replace the file — PRISM's hourly probe picks it up with no restart — or apply it immediately:

curl -X POST -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" localhost:4001/license/reload

A reload that fails to verify keeps the previous state: a bad file never un-licenses a running fleet.

Expiry and grace

An expired licence no longer waits for a restart to matter, and no longer turns rendering off silently when one happens. The hourly probe starts a grace window (license.grace_hours, default 72) during which rendering continues and every probe tick logs an error; when the window closes, rendering stops loudly. prism_license_valid on /metrics and license in /status are the signals to alert on.
